The Wivenhoe Corsairs started as a vision for a boat club which would bring this joy of rowing to the heart of the community. A club run by its members for its members. Not only is the club welcoming to new members, but it pursues an active programme of beginner rows, social rows, training and racing. We race throughout the season in mixed, women’s and men’s crews, at summer regattas and in the Harkers Yard Gig Winter Series (against 14 identical gigs), as well as having regular ‘friendlies’ against local opposition such as Brightlingsea, Wivgigs and Rowhedge. We also enter some of the classic races too – the 22 mile Great River Race up the Thames, and the Carrow Cup in Norwich – the oldest boat race in the world - are just two examples. For more information on the club, or if you fancy coming out with us for a row, please get in touch via the contact form on this site.
